Who’s the WOMAN in the photo?
Patricia “Tricia” Gomez’s commitment to the mediation process stems from representing individuals, businesses and government in a variety of complex lawsuits for more than 20 years. Her experience advising both employers and employees brings a balanced perspective of workplace issues and the know-how to craft creative solutions. She has litigated cases ranging from civil rights violations to wrongful termination, and she has written employment policies and procedures aimed at avoiding litigation. Most recently, she was the primary counsel to the County of San Luis Obispo on personnel matters.
Litigating employment cases demonstrated to Patricia the personal impact workplace disputes have on everyone involved. She knows from experience that early mediation can solve problems before a lawsuit is filed.
Patricia has received dispute resolution training from the Strauss Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University and CDR Associates at Boulder, Colorado. She was a founder of San Luis Obispo County’s community based mediation center, Creative Mediation, (formerly Conflict Resolution Program), acting as both a mediator and member of the Board of Directors. For the better part of 2008, she lived and studied in Guatemala to become more proficient in Spanish; she returned to San Luis Obispo to specialize in mediation and human resource management.
